Our story begins with Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bryan, TX. Since 1978, God has blessed that congregation with growth and a singular vision: to plant a church in its sister city, College Station. While the city of Bryan has no lack of churches within its geographical bounds, College Station has a lack of churches in its southern area south of Rock Prairie Road. Because the city is geographically expanding to the south, more and more families are moving into our area. Demographically, we need to be planting churches here to serve them.
But it would be short-sighted to focus only on the demographics of a region when we must also consider the spiritual battle for the souls of people. From the unchurched to the de-churched, we know that the people in College Station desperately need gospel presence. Many are searching for truth, hope, and belonging—some knowingly, others unknowingly. God has people who belong in our midst, and we don't even know who they are yet. That is why we are here. God has a big heart for College Station, and He has called us to be His hands and feet in this community.
In the Spring of 2020, with the full blessing of Westminster, Redeemer became its own mission church of the South Texas Presbytery, enjoying a mother-daughter relationship with WPC Bryan. From the very beginning, this partnership has been built on prayer, faith, and a shared desire to see the gospel flourish in College Station. As Redeemer continues to grow, we are reminded that church planting is not just about establishing a congregation but about seeing lives transformed, disciples made, and the love of Christ extended to every corner of our city. We are here for the long haul, trusting that God will continue to use Redeemer to build His kingdom in College Station and beyond.
On January 26, 2025, Redeemer reached a significant milestone, becoming a fully particularized church in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). This moment marked not just an administrative step, but a testimony to God’s faithfulness in establishing a gospel-centered community in College Station. With elected elders, Redeemer now stands as a self-sustaining church, ready to shepherd its people, raise up new leaders, and continue the mission of making Christ known. While this is a moment of celebration, it is also a moment of renewed commitment—to remain faithful to the Word, to love and serve our neighbors, and to be a church-planting church that continues to reach new generations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We look ahead with gratitude and anticipation, trusting that the Lord will continue to guide and grow Redeemer for His glory.
In June 2017, Westminster called Reformed University Fellowship A&M pastor Ben Hailey to be the organizing pastor for this expanding congregation. Ben brings extensive area connections, a gift for gathering people, and a strong grasp on the transformative power of the gospel to bear as he starts his work. He, his wife Beth, and his children Hannah and Nathan have been living in College Station since 2008, and they are excited to see their ministry expand in their own neighborhood.
